My Home
All my life I have grown up and watched as my mom would take an ordinary house and make it our home. She would take all our decorations, the things my sister and I made, and the pieces her and my dad collected through their marriage, placing them in the right spot to bring a feeling of warmth and home into the room. I remember when I started helping her decorate, choose paint colors, and stage the house to be listed for sale (that is whenever we moved). These are the moments that cultivated my love for design and decorating.
After moving out of my families home, I struggled with “my” style – what felt like us? That was the topic always on my mind. I would hit road block after road block not knowing where or how to place anything. I have always heard the phrase, it is easier to decorate someone else’s home, and I could not relate more. Over the past few months I have finally realized that I am over thinking it. My goal isn’t to impress anyone, it is to create a warm place for my family to call home, somewhere that we create memories (not recreating memories of the homes I grew up in).
All these reasons are why I started this blog – to share how I am creating a house a home for my family. A place to create memories unique to us.
